VARKALA: This is known for the Sree Janardhana Swami temple, which is one of the seven important Vaishnavite shrines in the Country. It is also called as 'Southern Varanasi'. Other important shrine is Sivagiri Mutt. Varkala is the site of the Samadhi of Shri Narayana Guru the famous social and religious reformer. The Ashram founded by the Guru is situated in the midst of beautiful surroundings.
NEYYAR: This is located in Trivandrum district, from 32km.Boating facilities are available at the reservoir. There is also a Lion Safari Park and a Crocodile Farm. The sanctuary has a rich variety of birds and animals.
KOVALAM: It is located 12km south of Trivandrum and is regarded as one of the finest beach resorts of the world and also one of the best tourist resorts in this place. It is a fine sea-bath resort on the out skirts of Trivandrum. A shallow picturesque bay affords a convenient spot for safe and enjoyable sea and sunbathing. The famous Health and Yoga Centre provides Kerala's Ayurvedic treatment and has become an important tourist attraction for Indians as well as foreigners. Good accommodation facilities are available.

VIZHINJAM: 3km from Kovalam, Vizhinjam is small State annexed in 1415 Maharaja Veer Kerala Varma of Travancore, was the first Dutch settlement and port. Vizhinjam is fast developing as a fishing harbor with a boat building yard, ice plant, and Jetty for mechanist boats.

NEYATTINKARA: This is located in Trivandrum district, 18km from Trivandrum enroot Nagercovil on the banks of river Neyyar. Neyyattinkara is very much associated with Royal family of Travancore.The maiden near the temple is known after Swadeshebhimani Ramakrishna Pillai, a powerful writer and editor, born at Neyyattinkara.
PARASSALA: The southern end of Kerala famous for Sri.Mahadeva temple.
KILIMANUR: This is located in 49 kms from Trivandrum, Kilimanur an ancient town and the seat of Royal family having Matrimonial alliances with the Travancore Royal family. The famous artist Raja Ravi Varma belonged to the Kilimanur Royal family.
ANJENGO: A small narrow Island lying between the Anjango lake and Arabian Sea, called "Angengo" is historical. The whole Island is cultivated with Coconut trees and is an important centre Christian Fisherman. Kaikara, a village close by, is the birth place Mahakavi Kumaranasan.
PALODE:This is located in Thiruvananthapuram district. Tropical Bottanical Garden and Research Institute is in Palode.
TUMPA: This is located in Thiruvananthapuram district. Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre is at Thumba. The Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching station was set up in 1969.
