ALAPUZHA
An Important commercial and industrial centre, 36miles from Ernakulam along the coastal road NH47. Alleppey is known as the "Venice of the East" because of the presence of the canals within the town and the proximity of lakes. There is also a port from Coir products are exported. The economy of the district is based on agriculture and marine products. The smallest district of Kerala is Alappuzha. It is also the most density populated district in Kerala. The famous Nagaraja Temple is at Mannarasala here.

AMBALAPUZHA: This is located in Alappuzha district from 14km. This is renowned for Sri Krishna temple and it was noted for its splendid deity of 'Palpayasam'-a sweet milk porridge offered to the deity.
EDATHVA: This is located in Alappuzha district and Edathua church is situated in this place. The church is 24km from Alappuzha, and dedicated to St.George is of special significance. The annual feast held from 5th to 7th May.
MANNARSALA: This is 32km from Alappuzha near Haripad and famous for the ancient temple of Sree Nagaraja, the King of Serpents.
CHERTHALA: 50km from Cochin, reroute Aleppey on the NH47, Cherthala is the main coastal town between Cochin and Aleppey and is rich in coconut plantation. First grade S.N.College run by the S.N.D.P is famous.
MAVELIKARA: This is small town about 54km from Alappuzha. It is famous for its old church and temple. The two princess Sethu Lekshmi Bhai and Sethu Parvathy Bhai were adopted by the Travancore Royal family from the Mavelikkara place. A first grade college run by the CSI Church is famous.
KAYAMKULAM: 64 km from Alappuzha, Kayamkulam is ancient commercial town on the NH and an important bus station. It was small native in State under a separate role until annexed to the Travancore State. The Government of India Coconut Research Centre is located here.
PUNNAPRA: This is located in Alappuzha, district and is famous for the Punnapra Vylar riots between the communists and Sir.Ramaswami Iyer's State forces.
PUNNAMADA: This is located in Alappuzha district, 64km from Cochin and 154km from Trivandrum. Nehru Trophy Boat Race, is a very colorful annual event in the Punnamada Kayal at Alappuzha attracting thousands of visitors and tourist.
PATHIRAMANAL: The verdant island located in the Vembanad Lake is the first island resort of the State. The island is accessible only by boat from Kumarakom and Muhamma.
